What a fabulous time class 2 have had in the forest; they have been exploring, making dens and mini golf courses.

Class 2 had a great time visiting the farm.

Class 2 World Book Day

In their Art lessons, Class 2 have been looking at self portraits. For their first picture they have looked at impressionism and used collage to recreate 'light and colour' as seen with impressionist artists.

Local walk

Class 2 have been studying different types of houses through history as part of their topic 'Homes of the Past'. They have really enjoyed making their two-storey Victorian matchbox house, designing their own Victorian interiors.

Class 2 have really enjoyed creating artwork as part of their 'Sparks and Flames' topic. They created a silhouette of The Houses Of Parliament; using different collage techniques to create the flames before making the fireworks in the sky.

As part of their 'Great Fire Of London' topic, our Year 1 and 2 pupils are making fire engines as part of their DT project. So as part of the design process, they visited Ashbourne Fire Station to have a tour of an engine and the opportunity to sketch parts of it. We think their designs look fabulous. Thank you Ashbourne Fire Station for having us.

Class 2 had a great time at this years ploughing match!

Dream jar

Class 2 have been looking at the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and experimenting in her style of polka dots. They have sketched and trailed different ways of creating spots, before creating 3Dforms of pumpkins and finally finishing with painting in her inimitable style.

Ordering the alphabet

Class 2 had a wonderful time using their senses to experience al the woods have to offer at this time of year as part of their core text 'The Deep Dark Woods'. we went to the little forest outside our classroom to use our senses and gather ideas, before creating our own woodland scenes. we then used our findings to create some interesting descriptive sentences.

Class 2 have a new reading corner! we love reading.

Class 2- 2023-2024

Summer term- A fabulous first session in the forest with our new forest school leader Sam. Lots of songs, games and exploring 🌲🌳🍁

In Design & Technology, we have been learning all about kites. They each designed and created their very own Guatemalan Kite. Their brief was to use bright colours, shapes and patterns. We think they did a super job! 🪁

Class 2 had a real piece of history for their history lesson today. A letter actually written by Florence Nightingale! One of our pupils brought a letter received by her great, great Aunt's family who lived in the same village. What a privilege for the class to read from such an important piece of history for their 'Nurturing Nurses' topic. 👩‍⚕️
