Arts Week & India

Dear Parents, It has been an excellent start to our Arts Week with many wonderful and creative activities taking place. We hope your children are enjoying the week so far. We would like to highlight a visit that took place this week. On Tuesday the Rev. Anita came into school to give a talk to the children. Anita is part of our link with India, was part of the trip in November and helped to secure the link we now share with GB Lane. At the end of her assembly the School Council presented the money raised through 'Pay it Forward' - a staggering £47.30! This represents all the hard work and good manners etc that your children have been rewarded for in the Spring Term. Also, Seb and Eleanor presented their money an amazing total of £58.50 to Anita and explained what they'd done to raise it. Well done Seb and Eleanor and Thank You for your wonderful idea. We would like to thank all the children in school for the enthusiasm and empathy that they show other children, particularly our friends in India. Mrs Clowes is training hard for the Ramathon and the money raised from this run will ensure our links with India continue. Please find the link below to donate and many thanks to the families that have already sponsored! https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/Becky-clowes?utm_id=2&utm_term=QdJd9JBbM

Welcome

Welcome to Clifton CE Primary School and thank you for visiting our school website. I hope you find the information helpful and that it gives you a picture of life and learning in Clifton School.

Our Vision is that:-

"Clifton School offers the children individual care, a broad and balanced curriculum and a chance to develop their individual personalities in a well-disciplined, caring, family environment based upon a Christian foundation."

Clifton Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School is a small village primary, with 103 pupils, situated just outside Ashbourne. The children, aged 4 to 11 years are organised into four mixed age classes. Younger pupils are based in the original Victorian building with Key Stage two in a separate building. Our outdoor area is varied comprising two smaller and one larger playgrounds, buddy area, an outdoor classroom/shaded area, small wooden role play/activity area, a small field and conservation area. Use of the Church Hall and Village Playing Field enable us to supplement our accommodation, provide additional facilities for the children and enhance learning experiences. Our school enjoys real interest and support from the local community and seeks to play a full role in the life of the village.

Our conscientious and dedicated staff is committed to providing a safe, stimulating and happy environment for learning, enabling all our children to reach their full potential in all areas, not just those measured by levels. There is a clear shared vision of high expectations and high achievement in all areas - academic, social, moral and spiritual, within a well-disciplined, caring family environment based upon a Christian foundation.

As a Church of England, Voluntary Controlled School we value our strong links with the local church. The vicar, Canon Pond, and our local lay reader, Mr Warner, are our Foundation Governors; both are involved in our termly church services and attend other school events while Mr Warner and the Open the Book team lead regular Open the Book worship. Other members of the congregation are also involved in the life of the school for example attending performances, services and special assemblies. Christian values are the root of our school ethos and an integral part of every day school life.

I am proud to be Headteacher of Clifton CE Primary School. Our school has a wonderful positive, caring ‘family’ atmosphere where the needs of each individual are considered and addressed. If you would like to look round our school please contact the office to arrange a visit. Mrs HJ Daughtry Headteacher
