Late/Absence Procedures

Attendance and Punctuality Matter

A healthy pupil is expected to achieve an average attendance of greater than 95%;  attendance at Clifton CE Primary School on average is nearly 98%.

The Government classifies less than 90% attendance as persistent absence and requires the child's attendance to be closely monitored.

If your child is not able to attend school, please telephone the school office before 8.45am. If your call is not answered, there is an answer phone available so that you can leave a message.  If you do not leave a message, attempts will be made to contact the parents/carers immediately and the absence will be marked as unauthorised.

Children who arrive after the official start time of 8:40am will be marked as late before register has closed.  If they arrive after 8:40 am they must report immediately to the school office where they will be marked down as late after register has closed.  If a child arrives after 9:10 am without prior explanation, the absence will be marked as unauthorised.

Please ensure your child is on time for school every single day.....the bell will ring at 8.35am.  Children have a better day following a calm start rather than rushing in late.

Please see the 'attendance' section of the website for more details of our policy on attendance. Find below an application for absence leave.

We have spaces in some year groups. If you would like to visit the school please phone 01335 342473.
